READING PARTNERS NORTH TEXAS SEEKS TO INSPIRE 鈥楻ESOLUTIONS FOR READING鈥 DURING NATIONAL MENTORING MONTH
278 students are ready to be matched with volunteer tutors

Each year, National Mentoring Month celebrates the power of mentoring relationships and calls for more people to play a supportive role in the lives of children. This January, JVID视频 is sharing stories of mentorship from community volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and staff. The campaign is designed to inspire others to make聽聽in the new year by providing students in under-resourced schools with the tutoring and mentorship they need to become proficient readers by the fourth grade.
础听, national nonprofit that mobilizes community volunteers to work one-on-one with struggling readers, JVID视频 is determined to serve 650 students in North Texas in the 2017-18 school year. Currently, there are over 278 students waiting to be matched with tutors at 13 of the 16 local elementary schools where JVID视频 operates in North Texas. Now is the time for our community to make聽Resolutions for Reading聽to ensure that our students have the reading skills and confidence they need to be successful in school and in life.
鈥淲e are grateful to our community volunteers who play a pivotal role in the reading success of our North Texas children. Our research-based and proven reading model is designed for a tutor with any background to achieve success with lessons ready and classroom support available by our JVID视频 North Texas team. JVID视频 volunteers utilize an easy-to-follow, individualized lesson plan each week in order to meet students at their level and help them make the critical transition from learning to read to reading to learn.
JVID视频 North Texas has an immediate need for volunteer tutors who can commit at least an hour a week to work with students in the following schools:
